Passport

●        Mandatory document for staying on the territory of the Russian Federation, issued in the country of citizenship

●        Visa validity period cannot exceed the period of validity of the passport

●        Visa is not issued or extended if there are less than 18 months left till the expiry date of the passport.

●        What to do in case of Passport loss

     - When: as soon as possible

     - Where to

         (step 0): call to the International Department (General Service) - ask for help

         (step 1): to the Police station - get a notification voucher there

         (step 2): to the International Department - bring the notification voucher

         (step 3): to the Embassy of your country - follow the info on official site and phone hot lines

     -  If you cannot obtain a passport in the Russian Federation, the Embassy will issue a certificate of return, with which you should apply to the International Department (Visa-Migration Service) - we will issue you a visa for departure; you will be able to return to your studies with a new visa issued to you on the basis of a new invitation.

●       When you receive your new passport at the Embassy, you must immediately bring the documents to the International Department (Visa-Migration Service) for registration and further visa processing


Migration card

●        Migration card forms are issued on planes, trains, buses or by border control officers.

●        The migration card must be filled out in Russian or in Latin letters as in the passport.

●        The migration card is valid for the whole time you are in Russia

●       How to get:

     -  When entering the Russian Federation for the first time (single entry visa) - be sure to check your name and surname (as in the visa) in the migration card.

     -  When re-entering the Russian Federation (multi-entry educational visa) - check your Surname and First Name (as in the visa).

     -  You will be stamped on your migration card when you pass the border control to cross the border of the Russian Federation.

●        When you leave the Russian Federation, it is handed in at the border control, and when you return you fill in a new one.

●        What to do in case of lost Migration Card.

     - When: as soon as possible

     - Where:

          (step 0): call to the International Department (General Service) - ask for help

          (step 1): to the Police station - fill in the application form, get the certificate of migration card loss

          (step 2): to the International Department (Visa-Migration Service) - bring the certificate of migration card loss, passport; registration form; educational agreement/contract; hostel agreement/contract

          (step 3): to the Russian Migration Service


Registration form

●        Registration entitles the foreign student to reside at a specified address for the period specified in the registration.

●        A new registration is made at each new address, and the previous registration is cancelled.

●        How to get for the first time:

     - When: on the first working day after entering the Russian Federation for the first time OR after moving into the new hostel you must visit the International Department (Visa-Migration Service)

     - What to bring with you: passport, migration card

●        How to get in case the deadline is approaching:

     - When: no later than 40 days before the expiry of registration

     - What to bring with you: passport, migration card; expiring registration form

●        What to do in case of lost Registration Form:

     - When: as soon as possible

     - Where to:

          (step 0): call to the International Department (General Service) - ask for help

          (step 1): to the International Department (Visa-Migration Service) - bring passport; migration card; educational agreement/contract; hostel agreement/contract


Visa

●        Single entry educational visa - for up to 3 months is issued on the basis of an invitation from YSMU at the Russian Embassy in your country.

●        Multiple entry educational visa - for a period of 12 months is issued on the basis of a training contract in the Migration Department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Yaroslavl region (issued and submitted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs).

●        How to get in case the deadline is approaching:

     - When: not later than 40 days before the visa expiry date.

     - What to bring with you: passport; migration card; registration; study agreement/referral and certificate of study; 1 photo (size 3.5 x 4.5 cm (either black-and-white or colour); receipt of payment of the state duty.


NOTE:

  •  A multiple-entry visa may be refused in case of 2 administrative violations of the law within 3 years.

  • If you make any changes in your personal data (change of name, surname, passport data, citizenship, place of residence, status in the Russian Federation), you must notify the International Department Visa-Migration Service) within 1 day.
